Independence Missouri isn’t really considered a travelers’ destination spot but we wanted to pop in and have some visits with Luce’s father.
Our ride there was pretty uneventful. Flat easy short and sweet. We settled in to our camp spot and then headed out for dinner with the fam. They picked a sweet spot with a patio and listen… I’m not trying to create jealousy in any of our southeast friends and family but it was cool and breezy and a lovely evening outside without even a single mosquito!

Luce got to see her father Darrell as well as other family she hadn’t seen in many many years including Judy, Darrell’s wife. It was a delight and bonus that we connected deeply with newfound relative Stephanie and her husband Justin and son Jake. They are our tribe! We had so many commonalities and are essentially all on the same spiritual journey. After dinner we went to their house and visited more. We had to literally peel ourselves away to head back to our campsite.
Darrell met us at our campsite the following morning and we rode together to breakfast. Gluten free French toast for me? Yes please! Deep, meaningful, healing conversations for Luce and Darrell, also yes! It was another beautiful visit and we lingered a bit when we returned to our site to squeeze as much time as possible for Luce and her father before we hit the road again.

Next stop, Denver/Boulder area!
